This is a completely new variety of strawberry that was first shipped in the fall of 2019. The name contains the meaning of "the fruit that is loved" in Tochigi.
It is about halfway between the size of "Skyberry" and "Tochiotome", has a beautiful rounded triangular shape, and is a deep red color. You can enjoy its strong fragrance, outstanding sweetness, and mellow taste. It is characterized by its low acidity, outstanding sweetness, deep red color, and strong luster. It also has a heart-shaped shape with a concave stem. When eating, we recommend that you ask your child to cut it in half, as your child will surely be delighted♪
The strong aroma before eating is a distinctive feature.
When you put it in your mouth, it has a clean texture, a weak sourness and a subtle green smell, so its sweetness stands out! It's great for making desserts, but you should definitely eat it "as is" to enjoy its sweetness. Its taste is characterized by its low sourness and prominent sweetness, its firm texture and large fruit, which leaves you feeling satisfied when you eat it. "Tochiaika" contains "vitamin C" like other strawberries. It also contains "folic acid," which is something that women should be conscious of taking.
In Tochigi, we not only produce delicious strawberries, but also take every possible measure to ensure quality control in order to deliver safe and secure strawberries. We are working on the "Strawberry Kingdom Step-Up Strategy" to further improve strawberry quality and create a strong production area, practicing GAP (Good Agricultural Practices), and checking the production process every day. We also hold our own "Strawberry Kingdom Grand Prix" and strive to improve production techniques and quality. In 2008, Tochigi Prefecture opened the first "Strawberry Research Institute" in Japan. We are working on developing strawberry varieties that will lead the next generation and researching cultivation techniques. Tochigi Prefecture has set a goal of expanding 80% of the cultivation area in Tochigi Prefecture to "Tochiaika".
