Kanpei is an original Ehime variety that was created by crossbreeding Nishinoka and Ponkan at the Ehime Prefectural Fruit Tree Experiment Station (currently the Ehime Prefectural Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Research Institute, Fruit Tree Research Center) Mandarin Orange Research Institute.
Just like Beni Mana, it was born after 16 years of research aimed at developing a mid-late citrus fruit (a citrus fruit other than Unshu mandarins) that would meet the needs of the times and replace Iyokan and Natsumikan.
It is very popular due to its good quality, and the harvest volume is gradually increasing. The most distinctive feature of Kanpei is its unique crunchy texture that is not found in any other citrus fruit. The crunchy flesh along the teeth pops out with a surprising amount of juice.
It is a long-awaited variety that meets the requirements of the world, as it can be eaten whole bunches because it has no seeds. It has a very strong love and a flat shape, so it is called Kanpei. It is packed with fruit, so it is heavy and filling when you eat it.
It is a masterpiece citrus fruit with an unbelievable and amazing taste, and its popularity is somehow increasing year by year.
Because the outer skin is very thin, if it rains too much from summer to autumn, the fruit will swell too much and split, making it very difficult to cultivate, and the yield is unstable, but it is still a rare variety. The outer skin can be easily peeled with soft hands. It is sold as a high-end citrus fruit because it is very hard to cultivate and the production volume is small. It has a unique crisp texture and rich taste, a flat and well-striped fruit shape, and is less likely to peel. The skin is easy to peel like a mandarin orange, and since the sacs are thin, it does not remain in your mouth, so you can eat it as is. It is often featured on TV and other media, and the popularity of "Kanpei" is rapidly increasing, so please try it!
